The Tower of London, officially known as the Royal Palace and Fortress of His Majesty, is a historic castle located on the north bank of the River Thames in central London, England. It is within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, separated from the northern boundary of the city by an open space known as Tower Hill. It was founded at the end of 1066 as part of the Norman conquest of England. It consists of several buildings located in two concentric rings of defensive walls and a moat.

It has represented a leading role in English history. It was besieged several times and it was important to have it controlled to control the country. The tower has served as the armoury, treasury, Menagerie, Royal Mint, public records, and home of the Crown Jewels in the UK, but today it is basically a tourist attraction. If you want to visit it, here is a timetable:
- From November to February: Tuesday at Saturday from 09:00 to 17:00. Mondays and Sundays opens at 10.00 and closes at 17:00

- From March at October: Tuesday at Saturday from 09:00 to 18:00. Mondays and Sundays opens at 10.00 and closes at 18:00

- Closed 24, 25 and 26 December and 1 January.

Tower control is provided by the Beefeaters, who act as tour guides being themselves an attraction. Every evening the guards are involved in the ceremony of the keys that secure the tower at night.

According to an ancient tradition commanded, if the six ravens at the Tower remain disappeared one day, the Tower would fall and with it the monarchy.
